NEW ZEALAND ANIMAL TESTING
Are you buying into cruel animal testing?
Every year over 300,000 animals are used in animal test in New Zealand. Around 90% of animal tests are done for commercial reasons, not medical.
These include:
- Commercial testing (companies, universities and crown research institutes)
- Veterinary research
- Animal husbandry
- Basic biological research
WHO CONDUCTS ANIMAL TESTING?
Much of this research is carried out by commercial companies who are driven by the desire to create new and better products. These products are often tested on animals in order to meet overseas requirements, even though alternative and non-animal tests are available.
Buyer beware. Always check products to see if they say 'no animal testing'.
